Identify the open question
Are you trying to stop an active leak, assess a cover, clarify an inspection finding or understand unfinished work? Share that goal first. If the chimney was part of a roof project, include the specific chimney items from the proposal. A general reroof invoice may not explain what was done to the chimney crown or enclosure.
Choose the correct Hollywood record system
The City's permit page distinguishes its Accela records from existing BCLA permits and older records. Follow the route for the actual permit number rather than assuming one portal contains every project. The City identifies BCLA numbers by a letter and year, while Accela numbers can describe the work type. If records appear incomplete, contact Building before drawing a conclusion.
Keep repair completion separate from permit close-out
A service provider's photographs and invoice can document the agreed chimney work. They are not the same as the City's final inspection or permit status. Ask who is responsible for each remaining action. If a proposed repair changes an existing approved scope, have the responsible parties establish what review is needed before work proceeds.
Request the appropriate visit
Tell us the Hollywood address, whether anyone is occupying the home and who can grant access. Send a brief description of the symptom and the relevant report or proposal. We can discuss the service assessment without assuming that every old permit or construction issue is part of the chimney repair.
